Stingrays Swim Team

"EVERYONE WHO SWIMS, WINS!"

The Stingrays is a comprehensive competitive summer/fall/winter swim program for children ages 6 to 18 designed to help children to develop competitive swimming skills. The swim team focuses on developing the swimmer's technical abilities while building self-esteem, team values and fitness knowledge.

Regular Stingray Swim Season
Our season runs September through March. Enrollment in each age group is limited. Practice times are according to age groups and placement into groups will be decided by the coaches.

Registration Form

2010 Tryouts for new swimmers will be held on
September 12th or 13th at 6:00 p.m.
Pre-registration is not required. Team practice
begins on Sunday, September 19th.

Team Fee

Full year or modified - $390*
Girl’s varsity - $320*
Boy’s varsity - $280*

ALL participants MUST be a member of the YMCA for the entire season and will be required to have a membership scan card for registration and for entering the YMCA.

Registration for all swimmers must be completed by Sept. 30th. USA Registration is required. A copy of a birth certificate must be provided for this. Teams will attend USA Swim meets as well as dual meets.

Coaching Staff
Jeff Barlock, Nick Lobosco, Dan Canty, Julia Magendanz, Anthony Ferro, and Mary Haley will each have a couple of nights a week on deck. Specific nights will be posted on the bulletin board when the season starts. Roger Kirkpatrick (parent) will be our USA Swim Assoc./Adirondack District team registrar. At this time, e-mail is the best form of communication unless it is more urgent. Please notify the team parent association president (TBA), of your e-mail address as soon as you register. There will be a parents meeting at the beginning of the season, details to be announced later.

Practices
Practice times will lacement into groups will be decided by the coaches.

Sunday              5:45-8:30 p.m.
Monday              5:45-8:45 p.m.
Tuesday            5:45-8:00 p.m.

Wednesday      5:45-8:45 p.m.
Thursday           5:450-8:45 p.m.

Each day there is a 15 minute overlap time so that swimmers can arrive on deck, get their equipment in front of their lanes and start stretching. Likewise, first practice swimmers should make every effort to arrive early even if they are not in the water immediately. "in the water" time is 15 minutes after arrival times above.

Tryout Details
All new swimmers who were not on our team last year must attend the tryout - dates for 2010 are TBA. Entry level swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards freestyle and 50 yards backstroke. Swimmers 13 years of age and older must swim 100 yards freestyle and 100 yards backstroke. After the try-out period ends, coaches MAY STILL HAVE TO LIMIT TEAM SIZE FOR SAFETY. There has been tremendous interest in the team. Returning team members will attend their normal sessions - date and time to be announced. YMCA membership is not required to try out, but is required for the season.

We also have classes and training available for our for those interested in swim team training.


Stingray Development Swim Team             (6 -12 years and older)
This program is for pre-beginner swim team level swimmers. Must have an organized instructional swimming background and can swim 50 yards of front and back crawl. Swim evaluation is given on
the first night.


Sessions: Spring II, Summer


Monday and Wednesday: 6-7 pm
Full members only: $115


 

Stingrays Off-Season Training
(6-18 year olds)
This program focuses on balance in the water, techniques, drills starts and turns. Swimmers must have previously competed at swim team level.


Sessions: Spring II, Summer

Monday and Wednesday: 7-8:30 pm
Thursday: 6-8 pm
Full members only: $155
