Health and Wellness for Kidz

Saratoga Springs Branch Health and Wellness Schedule for Kids

Roc-N-Tots
Roc-N-Tots offers an introduction to movement and music for growing minds and bodies for ages 18 months through 3 years. A fun mix of circle songs, free dance, marching and imagination which your child will talk about all week!  For more information, contact Yonka Perkins at 583-9622, ext. 118 or yonka@ymcasaratoga.org.

18 - 24 months - 11:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Tot Playgroups
A special fun time for children and parents. This program focuses on developing socialization and cooperation skills and includes free play, finger plays and stories. This is a great way for parents and children to spend time together and meet and interact with other friends. Grandparents, babysitters and nannies are welcome to participate. Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run, a 10-week program that ends with a 5K Run/Walk, uses fitness and fun to learn about self-esteem, values, being respectful to ourselves and our communities, making difficult decisions and being true to who we are. We are looking for 4th, 5th and 6th grade girls who believe girls are smart, powerful, strong, fun, cool and would like to celebrate that fact with other girls who feel the same way.

Monday and Wednesday - 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Teen Fit
The Teen Fit program helps students gain an interest in exercise and nutrition by providing a fun teen-oriented program at the Corinth YMCA Branch site. Activity and exercise are vital
ingredients towards a long and healthy lifestyle for our young people. This is a voluntary after school program that includes a variety of fitness activities including: walking, weight lifting,
aerobic classes, importance of proper warm-up and cool down, intro to cardio equipment, record keeping for workout, and cardio room etiquette. In addition, homework help is provided, along with emotional support, interaction with positive role models, and a support network for growth and
development. The mission of this program is to empower, encourage and strengthen “at risk” teens in mind, body and spirit to make smart choices that will lead them to make positive and healthy decisions. This program is sponsored by
the Saratoga Youth Bureau.

Teen Lifting Program
Do you have a son or daughter that wants to learn more about resistance training? Participants will receive instruction on basic free weight movements, sound nutrition, and fitness etiquette. This class is for 14 years and older and registration is required. A fun-filled fitness program geared towards 5 to 8 year olds that want to be fit, learn, and have fun doing it. The class combines beginner fitness and healthy lifestyle tips to jump-start youths into making better choices in the way of fitness and food. Kids Fitness

A fun-filled, drop-in fitness program geared towards 5 to 10 year olds that want to learn to be fit and have fun doing it. The class combines beginner fitness (utilizing anything from bands and cycling to pilates) and healthy lifestyle tips to jump start youths into making better choices in the way of fitness and food. Each week provides a new experience. The participating youth will gain knowledge to better themselves in today’s world. Kidz will learn fun dance routines to popular
hiphop music! There is a class for 6 to 9 year

YogaKidz
Yoga at an early age encourages self-esteem and body awareness with a physical activity that is noncompetitive. Yoga fosters cooperation and compassion. This class is for 4 to 8 year olds. For more information, call Yonka Perkins at 583-

Youth Fitness Certification Course
This two session certification course allows youth ages 10 through 13 to use the fitness area. The course will cover gym etiquette, nutritional guidelines, basic anatomy and physiology, and strength and endurance training. Upon
completion, members will receive a certificate and wristband to be worn when using the fitness area. Contact the Wellness Desk to schedule an appointment.
