JCPenney Round-Up
March 24-April 6, 2010

Shop between March 24th - April 6th at the JCPenney - Wilton Mall and you may “round-up” your purchase to the next whole dollar—then the JCPenney Afterschool Fund will donate the difference to the YMCA of Saratoga to provide children in this community with access to life-enriching afterschool programs.

Chili Cook Off and Carnival

The YMCA of Saratoga will be holding its 5th Annual Chili Cook Off and Carnival on March 24, 2010 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Saratoga Springs Branch.  At this event, you will find fun games and a Boucy Bounce plus plenty of delicious chili to taste.  Everyone is welcome to attend this family-oriented event. 

Adult tickets are $5 for 4 chili tastes and tickets for children, ages 13 or younger, are $2 for 4 chili tastes.  Each ticket includes 1 ballot to vote on the best chili. Additional chili tastes may be purchased for $1 per taste.  Carnival tickets are $1 for 3 tickets and $3 for 10 tickets.  Drinks will be available for purchase. 

In addition, the YMCA of Saratoga is accepting entries for the Chili Cook Off.  There will be a $7.00 entry fee, which includes 4 chili tastes at the event.  Contestants may enter in three divisions:  vegetarian, white and red.  Awards will be given for each division and a “Five Alarm” award for the hottest chili.  The overall winner will receive the “Golden Pepper” award which will be chosen by the tasters.  

The Chili Cook Off and Carnival is hosted by the YMCA of Saratoga’s B.A.S.E. (Before and After School Enrichment) Program.  All proceeds from this event will benefit the YMCA of Saratoga’s Annual Campaign, We Build People.  We Build People makes the YMCA experience possible for all, regardless of their ability to pay.

World Rowing Challenge
March 15-April 15, 2010

Our World Rowing challenge runs March 15 - April 15. We, as a "Saratoga Springs Y" team, are competing against several thousand teams worldwide through concept2. 

To participate, YMCA of Saratoga members need to create a personal online log book at concept2.com and designate the "Saratoga Springs Y" as their team. The team captain will do this for those who do not have computer access.

For fun, we will also have log sheets near the rowers, but remember the only meters that count are the ones that are logged on your personal online log book at concept2.

YMCA Rowers will be recognized when they reach the following levels during the month long challenge:

Bronze level - row 50,000 meters

Silver level - row 100,000 meters

Gold level -  row 200,000 meters

Platinum level row - 400,000 meters

An "End of the Challenge" Rowing Party will be at a time TBA and prizes will be awarded.

All YMCA of Saratoga members are invited to participate! New to rowing? We'll be glad to help you get started! The rowing team is a great group of Y members ranging from 15 to 84.
